Commodore Tom Boyes declared the 50th season for the Cerritos Bahia Yacht Club open today at the opening day ceremony for 2017. “I am honored,” Boyes said, “To be the commodore during this historic year. Our bridge and board are the right group to lead us into our next 50 years.”
Honored also by our club chaplain, Mike Lampignano, were those that passed the bar in 2016. Remembered were members Chris Van Hooser and Jack Russel who lost their lives to cancer.
Safe boating, everyone. And have fun out there!
Fleet Captain Ted Campos’ design won the fiftieth anniversary logo contest. Look for this design on merchandise appearing in then quartermaster cabinet soon. Contact Wanda Lang for details, and get your gear while you can! It is likely to be a limited addition.
Our new Port Captain, Doug Martin has done a wonderful job kicking off the 2017 port function season with a great steak and lobster dinner with a live band for dancing. Tom Sivula set up a photo booth for capturing the memories. Many other members helped as well.
It looks like our port functions are going to be great this year! Be sure to join us for the next one! Give Doug a call and find out where you can help.
Jason and Cindi Decker, Bill Bryant and Dean Harp were sworn in as new members at the first board meeting under Commodore Tom Boyes in 2017. Welcome new members!
